COVID-19 UPDATE

Posted by Dean Rowan on

March 24, 2020

There will be no in-store shopping, no exceptions. Please see the note below to understand what we have put in place to allow you to continue brewing at home!

March 19, 2020

Given the extremely rapid pace of this crisis, we have discussed how we can best tailor our small business to meet the needs of our many customers who find themselves at home and thinking about homebrewing. One option is to close up completely and stay home, as many experts suggest we do, but our shop is run by my wife and myself only, so even if we stay home, we are still in close contact, the same as we are here. The objective is to reduce our close contact with YOU. Here is what we have decided starting Tuesday March 24;

  1. There will be LIMITED IN-STORE shopping. If you absolutely must visit us and browse, we will continue to sanitize all the common surfaces and will maintain a safe interaction distance while you're here. We do encourage you to shop online if possible. See below for new store hours.

  2. Front Door Pick-Up service; We will install a front doorbell that you can use when you arrive to pick up an order. When you do so, we will open the door and move your order outside onto the Pick Up table for you to collect. If you are leaving CO2 for refilling, you can leave it on the table and we will collect it.
NOTE: This service is ONLY for use during normal store hours (see below for new store hours). Please do not leave items outside of the store overnight or when we are closed.
You can also call us from in front of the store (905-556-0725), text me at 416-737-9592, or just beep the horn and we will respond. No contact.

  3. Online orders. This is the ideal way to minimize contact and allow you to stay home. You can shop online AND pick up here, if you prefer, using our No Contact front door pick up method. Online shopping allows you to see the identical inventory that we have available in store, so there is no disadvantage to this method. If you can't find something you're looking for, please contact us as it might be out of stock, or just not packaged as yet.

  4. Shipping and Delivery: with all the local breweries closed, our central drop-off locations have been removed. However, there is nothing keeping us from going an extra few kilometers to your front door (within reason), so we will add the option of FREE local delivery at checkout to Durham Region, including Port Perry, Uxbridge, Oshawa, Whitby, Ajax, Pickering, as well as eastern Scarborough*. Read more HERE on our blog
  • We need to maintain the $15.00 minimum order to offset the cost of time and gas.
  • Delivery times/days are NOT guaranteed and will depend on the volume of orders we have.
  • These orders will be dropped at your front door and we will either text you or ring the bell to let you know your order has arrived. You can collect your order from your doorstep.
  • No contact.
Shipping to areas outside of our FREE delivery zones will be unchanged so long as Canada Post continues to take in packages.

New Store Hours; In order to allow time for these deliveries, we will modify our store hours to 10:00am - 4:00pm Tuesday to Friday. Deliveries will happen between 4:00pm - 7:00pm Tuesday - Friday. There is no change to Saturday hours at the moment, but we are not offering deliveries on Saturdays.

Please note that NO ONE we know of, family or customers, have so far reported any signs of COVID-19, as of this writing.

Stay safe, stay home, make beer!

*Eastern Scarborough: Markham Road to Port Union, Lake Ontario to Finch Avenue. If you are just outside of these limits, please contact us.
