Store Re-Opening FINALLY!
After 4 months, we are happy to see that Durham Region is embracing the Phase 3 Provincial reopening plan and so far, everyone seems to be being pretty smart about masks, distancing, and hand sanitizing.
With this in mind, we have spent the past few weeks trying to reorganize the store, get it cleaned and sanitized, and get ready to welcome in-store shoppers once again. Our doors will be open at 10:00am on Saturday August 15th.
The layout of the store has changed a bit. What used to be our classroom is now a room housing full sacks of grain, bottles, larger objects, and more. Feel free to browse around in there. Our main store area is also configured a bit differently, utilizing the desks from the classroom to offer more surface area for products, hopefully making them easier to find. We have been stocking as usual for the past 4 months but not taking the time to put price stickers on all items as we had no one shopping in-store, but now we are scrambling to get all those items tagged! Please bear with us.. not everything will have a price sticker on it on Saturday, but we are chipping away at it.
Along with this reopening will be a small change of store hours. Instead of 10am - 6pm as we have done in the past, we will be open now as follows;
Tuesday - Friday: 10am - 5pm
Saturday: 10am - 4pm
Sunday - Monday: Closed
While this is a small change, it will still leave us some time in the early evening for local deliveries, and it is this that we will also now be changing.
Friday August 14th will be the last day that we are offering eastern Scarborough deliveries, concentrating the reduced delivery time we have to the Durham region. Specifically, we will be continuing our FREE Local delivery service to Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, and Oshawa. For those outside of these areas we apologize for the inconvenience, but with our longer days in the store we need to reduce our after hours deliveries.
Flat Rate GTA deliveries will continue as we still have a driver available to work with us. When that changes, we will cease that service.
Ok, so the well-known and simple rules for re-opening are as follows;
- Masks are required in the store. Please bring your own.
- We are a small shop so please use your common sense to give everyone some space.
- Hand sanitizer is provided at the front door. Please use it.
- Door handles and common surfaces are cleaned with proper disinfectant throughout the work day but just like grocery shopping, we suggest you wipe down bags and boxes when you get them home.
That's it.. simple, right? We're looking forward to welcoming people back inside, but we have also learned that online shopping and front door (or soon in-store) pick-up has worked really well. For those who have the time to order online and pick up a few hours or a day later, please continue to do so as this allows us to plan our workflow a bit better. As well, if you are in Durham, feel free to take advantage of the free home delivery. We hope to be able to continue offering this service but once the snow comes (did he just say "snow" out loud, in August??) this will be much more of a challenge. We'll deal with that when the time comes!
