We offer 2 types of peated malt. The Thomas Fawcett Peated Malt renders 15-25PPM of phenol while the Bairds Heavily Peated Malt will deliver 25-50PPM. Peated malt is a common ingredient in whiskey production, but can also find a home in craft beer brewing, particularly in Scotch Ales and Rauchbiers.  USE SPARINGLY as peated malt imparts much more "smoke" (phenols) than regularly smoked malts.

Lovibond - 2.0 - 3.0°L
Produced by smoking pale malt over burning peat. Peated Malt will add a dark, earthy, phenolic aroma and flavor characteristic of Islay whisky. 15-25PPM

 

Brand - Bairds
Lovibond - 2.0 - 3.0°L
Smoked over peat moss for a soft sweet, earthy smoked character. Peated malt is used by some malt distillers to impart a smoked or peaty flavour to their spirit. This type of malt may also occasionally be used as a very small inclusion in brewers’ mashes to produce beer with a smoked character. 252-50PPM
